Build a worksheet

A sheet for the lesson you are teaching

Pick the grade, the subject and the exact topic, and a new worksheet is written for it — the facts stated at the top, numbered questions that move from recall to reasoning, and an answer key on its own page. Free, no sign-up, ready to print.

The grade sets the difficulty: K to 2 recall from a word bank, 3 to 5 apply, 6 to 8 explain in their own sentences.

The fifty states, their capitals, their regions and the abbreviations that stand for them.

Recognising the fifty state names, telling them apart from cities and countries, and knowing roughly where each one sits in the country.

Takes about half a minute. 3 of 3 worksheets left today, one a minute, so the generator stays free for everyone.

Output

Your worksheet appears here

Pick a grade, a subject and a topic, and a new sheet is written for it — the facts it rests on in a box at the top, numbered questions that move from recall to reasoning, and an answer key on a page of its own. It downloads as a PDF, on US Letter or A4, in black ink.

The grade sets the difficulty

Not just shorter words. A grade 2 sheet asks which region a state is in, from a printed word bank; a grade 7 sheet asks what Reconstruction attempted and why it ended, in three sentences.

Only topics actually taught

Each topic carries the grades it belongs to, so the form will not offer the Korean War to a second grade class or the compass rose to an eighth grader.

Answer key included

Every question is generated with its answer and printed on a separate page. Leave the key out of the download when the sheet is being handed to a class.

How the worksheet is written

Worksheets on this site — these ones included — are written by Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic, against a fixed brief for the grade and topic you choose. Only the options you pick are sent to that service; nothing else about you is. Social studies content asserts facts about the world, so the sheet is checked against the answers it ships with before it reaches you, and a sheet that fails those checks is thrown away rather than shown. Even so, check a generated sheet before you hand it to a class, the way you would any resource you did not write yourself.
